Egnyte Launches Context Layer to Power More Accurate AI Agents Across Business Workflows
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., September 15, 2026 — Egnyte, a leader in secure content collaboration, intelligence, and governance, today introduced the Egnyte Context Layer, a business context foundation that maps relationships across content, people, projects, business systems, and organizational knowledge. This gives AI agents a purpose-built context map upfront, eliminating redundant processing and reducing costs while helping them deliver more accurate, relevant outcomes faster. The Egnyte Context Layer powers task-based agents across workflows, including industry-specific workflows across financial services, life sciences, media and entertainment, and architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC).
At Autodesk University in Las Vegas, Egnyte will demonstrate how this comes to life for AEC firms, showing new capabilities that enrich the Context Layer and what becomes possible when AI starts with a deep understanding of the business.

As Egnyte already sits on top of an organization’s most critical data, the Context Layer extends that foundation, mapping relationships and organization-specific knowledge so that the agents built are working with specific context needed to do their jobs. Starting with a unique context map, AI can work from current, relevant information, while respecting existing permissions and governance, so that it only accesses the information each user is permitted to access.
The Context Layer builds on Egnyte’s AI-powered workflow automation announcement in August, moving the platform from automating individual tasks to powering more accurate, connected AI agents across critical workflows.
How the Context Layer Works:

- AI Actions in Project Center surface relevant next steps directly where project work happens, so teams get work done without having to know what to ask AI.
- Task-based AEC agents in the Egnyte AI Marketplace give firms ready-to-use starting points for specific project jobs. Each can be used on its own, configured to a firm’s needs, or can be combined as building blocks for critical workflows.
- The Autodesk Forma Data Management AI Connector makes content in Autodesk accessible through Egnyte and passes Egnyte context back to Autodesk, helping users and agents work across systems rather than fragmented silos. In addition, webhooks keep information between Egnyte and Autodesk synced, while flexible folder mapping lets firms configure the integration to reflect how their projects are structured.
