Egnyte Debuts in Microsoft’s Cloud Storage Partner Program, Unveiling New Co-Authoring Integration for Office

Today, Egnyte announced the availability of an all-new Co-Authoring integration as a select member of Microsoft’s Cloud Storage Partner Program. Available immediately, Egnyte customers using Office Online will now be able to collaborate in real-time, using PowerPoint, Word and Excel documents stored within their Egnyte environment. With more than 1.2 billion Microsoft Office users to date, this integration will be a significant addition to our product portfolio. As a part of Egnyte’s open platform, it enables users to securely collaborate on files in any app, on any device, via any storage, this new functionality will give customers a whole new way to work.“We’re excited about the next step in our journey to make Office files more open and accessible for Egnyte customers,” said Kirk Koenigsbauer, corporate vice president, Microsoft Office. “Starting today, real-time co-authoring is available for customers storing documents in the Egnyte’s hybrid environment, giving them enhanced flexibility and a more seamless experience while working with Office applications.”According to one study, less than 10 percent of enterprise data is stored in a public cloud. As such, we’re happy to be a part of the initial group of partners, as this not only validates our place in this market, but the demand for our hybrid solution. While the need to move workloads to the cloud is steadily increasing, a large majority of businesses remain committed to storing a portion of their data on-premises for investment protection, security and performance reasons – especially large enterprises. Egnyte’s hybrid approach to file sharing uniquely positions us to offer Microsoft Office customers the flexibility to work on content stored in the cloud and on-premises, which our fellow Microsoft Cloud Storage Partners cannot.

"Technology is always advancing the way we work, which positively impacts our operational efficiency," said Paul Creed III, technology project director at Kent State University. "Our Microsoft Office Online users can view, create, and collaborate on documents stored in the cloud via Egnyte using the Microsoft or Egnyte web interfaces. The ability to use existing applications — that are familiar and part of everyday workflows — in conjunction with our Egnyte account has improved productivity in such a seamless way, which allows our staff to focus on the task at hand."The Microsoft Co-Authoring integration will fit nicely into the many existing integrations we have developed for Outlook, Office Online, Office 365, and Office mobile apps. Moving forward, our engineering team is excited to continue working as a part of the Microsoft Cloud Storage Partner Program to create better experiences for all of our joint customers.Being a part of Microsoft’s Cloud Storage Partner Program has been invaluable to the proliferation of our own Technology Partner Program at Egnyte. By executing successfully at the highest level with folks like Microsoft and Google, we are confident that we can replicate success with a wide variety of new partners. In addition to our work with Microsoft, we have built a tremendous suite of integrations with companies such as DocuSign, Jive, OneLogin, and Salesforce as well as industry-specific partners like FotoIn, SmartUse, and SmartSheet. In 2016 we will look to expand this program so customers can deploy the best of breed solutions throughout their organization. For more information on the new Microsoft Co-Authoring integration, please visit you would like more information on joining the Egnyte Technology Partner Program, please visit
