For seven years, the PyCon PL conference has offered an opportunity to exchange programming ideas and experiences. Speakers from all over the world – from Vancouver to Bangalore – present their views on the present and future applications of the Python language.

Egnyte Poland is proud to have been one of this year’s sponsors for this unique event that enables a knowledge exchange and helps build a true community year after year. During the four days of talks and workshops, we learned about new and different aspects of Web application development, including patterns used when incorporating RabbitMQ and ways to deploy Django in continuous integration cycles.

There were also workshops and presentations aimed at porting to Python 3 and demonstrations of features introduced in the newest releases of the language interpreter. Also, talks about building robots and microPython development boards showed that the language is meant not only for Web apps and desktop applications but also for embedded devices in the Internet of Things (IoT) paradigm.

The conference was not only about the language itself; other subjects such as community building, culture of work, project estimation, and management also piqued the participants’ interest. Unfortunately, there wasn’t much time to admire the mid-October colors of the Silesian Beskids. Our time was filled with planned lectures and stimulating discussions after each session. Participating in Pycon PL 2014 allowed us to meet with other programmers from around the world and introduce new people to enterprise file sharing beyond the cloud. We would like to express our gratitude to the organizers for putting on this excellent event.
