July Release Rollup: Bulk Extraction, Enhanced AI Assistant UI, and More

July's release makes AI more useful across the Egnyte platform, with major enhancements to AI Assistant that make it easier to build agents, create documents, have more natural conversations, and securely connect AI tools through Egnyte MCP Server.

The release also introduces Bulk Extraction for automatically generating metadata at scale, expands Desktop App capabilities across Mac and Windows, strengthens governance and security with new administrative controls, and delivers usability improvements across search, file management, and migration.

• Mac Desktop App
  • AI Assistant: AI Assistant now opens right inside Desktop App, keeping your selected files and folders in context so you can continue working without interruption.
  • Actions menu: Access the same Egnyte Actions in Connected Folders on macOS as everywhere else in Desktop App, for a more consistent workflow. 
  • Multi-entity management support: Desktop App now automatically signs users into linked Egnyte domains, reducing manual logins and simplifying access across organizations.
  • Web UI access restrictions: Desktop App now enforces map drive–only restrictions by removing web-based actions, helping organizations maintain consistent access policies across platforms.
• Windows Desktop App
  • Multi-entity management support: Desktop App now recognizes linked Egnyte domains and signs you in automatically, helping users switch between tenants without extra logins.
  • Manual file locking: Lock and unlock files directly from Desktop App to prevent conflicting edits and keep collaboration smooth across web, desktop, and mobile.CLI logout: IT administrators can remotely sign users out of Desktop App, enforcing scheduled re-authentication to strengthen security and protect access to corporate content.
  • File notifications for ABC drives: Get clearer visibility into skipped uploads with detailed reasons for each file, helping users quickly identify and fix upload problems.
  • Thumbnail performance in File Explorer: Thumbnail loading is now faster and more efficient, with background processing, cached previews, and optimized downloads that make browsing large image folders smoother and more responsive.
  • Stability during high file activity: Desktop App now uses memory more efficiently during continuous file operations, improving stability for automated workflows and high-volume workloads.
• Web UI
  • Search experience: Search results now load automatically as you scroll, making it easier to browse large result sets, stay in context, and find what you need faster.
  • HTML preview: Preview HTML files directly in Egnyte without downloading them. Rendered previews are available in Full View, Quick View, and shared links, with scripts removed for security.
  • Microsoft co-editing: The Egnyte interface now reflects Microsoft's latest naming conventions, delivering a more consistent experience across document creation, editing, and integrations.
  • Role-based permissions for migration and replication users (limited availability): Admins can now assign role-based permissions for migration and replication, ensuring users have only the access needed to manage migrations, replications, and true-ups. 
  • New features and enhancements
    • Improved toolbar for file Quick View and Full View: The redesigned Full View and Quick View toolbar makes file actions easier to find, simplifies navigation, and lets users rename files without leaving the viewer.
    • Multi-document tagging: Tag multiple files in a single action, making it easy to add, replace, or remove metadata while keeping content consistently organized at scale.
    • Bulk extraction:Automatically extract and apply metadata to existing and new files at scale, transforming unstructured content into searchable, AI-ready data with minimal manual effort. 
    • Enhanced SFTP security: Strengthen SFTP security by enforcing MFA at the domain level, ensuring users verify their identity with a second authentication factor.
• Document Auto-Classification:  Automatically classify AEC documents using an SLM, apply intelligent tags, improve search accuracy, streamline organization, and accelerate project collaboration.

  • Create an agent: Build and refine AI agents effortlessly using natural language or imported skills. Egnyte auto-configures setup, reducing effort and helping users deploy agents faster.
  • UI enhancements and AI interactions: Get more from Egnyte’s AI with a cleaner, more intuitive interface that helps you find features faster and complete AI tasks with less effort.
  • Create new documents: Create fully formatted documents (Word, PowerPoint, PDF, Excel, HTML, or Markdown) from simple prompts and instantly convert them into other formats, saving time and making it easy to repurpose content.
  • Follow-on questions: When prompts are unclear, AI Assistant and agents ask for context first, improving response quality and reducing unnecessary back-and-forth conversations.
  • Tag agents and connectors: Tag agents, connectors, and files directly in AI Assistant with @mentions, providing the right context instantly for faster, more relevant AI responses.
  • Egnyte MCP Server included with platform plans: Egnyte MCP Server is now included with all platform plans, securely connecting AI tools to your Egnyte content while maintaining permissions and IT control.
  • New features and enhancements:
    • Model list upgrade: Egnyte now supports GPT-5.4 and Gemini 3.5 Flash, giving users the flexibility to select the AI model that best fits their needs.
    • MCP Server and AI Connectors: Admins can now access MCP Server and AI Connector settings from the AI Powered Features section, providing a more intuitive settings experience. 
      • The AI Connectors list now supports pagination and prioritizes organization-approved connectors, improving navigation for admins and discovery for end users.
    • Images search and readability for agents (limited availability): Newly uploaded images are automatically captioned with searchable descriptions of objects, scenes, and visible text, improving discovery and AI-powered insights without manual tagging.
• Proposal Coordinator: Generate accurate RFP responses automatically using historical proposals, validate against requirements, and accelerate proposal creation to win more projects.

  • Enhanced UI for Content Lifecycle analytics view: The refreshed Content Lifecycle analytics view makes it easier to understand folder health, storage usage, and lifecycle trends with improved organization and visualization.

• SSL Certificate Uploads: Egnyte now supports multiple intermediate SSL certificates for Custom Access URLs, simplifying certificate management, improving browser compatibility, and ensuring uninterrupted secure access.
• Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) Support in Egnyte for Salesforce Integration: Simplify Egnyte for Salesforce setup with MFA support, enabling secure integration without disabling MFA and streamlining administrator authentication.
