October Product Rollup: Life Sciences, Snapshot Restore and more

This month, we’re excited to announce various improvements to Egnyte for Life Sciences' Controlled Document Management application, updates to the Egnyte Android app, and more.

Platform

User Provisioning Audit Report Improvement - The user provisioning audit report now includes the type of user created (Standard User, Power User, or Admin User). For more information, read this helpdesk article.

Security & Governance

Restore from Ransomware with ‘Recommended Snapshots’– Issue Reviewers can now restore affected files in Egnyte sources, for probable ransomware detections, directly from Secure and Govern’s Issues View. Secure and Govern will provide a “Recommended Snapshot” to restore based on when the issue is detected. Users can then proceed to restore any affected folders and files. For more information, read this helpdesk article.

Permission Browser - Add “Last Changed” Columns to ‘By Users’ & ‘Groups View’ – Secure & Govern Permission Reviewers can now see the ‘Last Changed By’ and ‘Last Changed At’ details in the ‘Users & Groups’ tab within the Permissions View. This will help reviewers understand who is granted users access and when. For more information, read this helpdesk article.

Permission Role Entitlement - Prevent Users From Editing Their Own Permissions – A new entitlement has been added to the Permissions Role entitlements section within Secure and Govern User Management. The ‘edit their own permissions’ entitlement will allow customers to prevent a user from changing their own folder permissions. By default, the new permissions entitlement will be checked and users will be able to change their own permissions, but this can be unchecked to prevent users from changing their own permissions. For more information, read this helpdesk article.

Document Summaries for Custom Document Classes – When creating a new custom document class, users can now view a summary of each document to help identify why a document may or may not match others that are part of the sample set. For more information, read this helpdesk article.

Egnyte for Life Sciences

Controlled Document Management: Automatic Version Numbering - When marking a new document as effective, Egnyte will automatically set the document version to 1.0. For existing documents, Egnyte will now prompt the user to choose whether the version is a minor or major update and will increment the version accordingly, thereby enforcing sequential version numbers and eliminating the risk of accidentally skipping a version number. For more information, read this helpdesk article.

Controlled Document Management: Configurable Footer - Admins can now customize footer text in Settings. For more information, read this helpdesk article.

Controlled Document Management: Document ID Format - Egnyte now allows admins to customize document ID formats including special characters and leading zeros, making it easier to standardize document IDs or work within an existing ID format. For more information, read this helpdesk article.

Controlled Document Management: Improved Audit Reports - Users can now view the audit trail for all historical activities for the Controlled Document Management application, Review and Approval Workflows, and Egnyte domain configuration data. For more information, read this helpdesk article.

Controlled Document Management: Document Import - Category Managers and Admins can now import existing effective and legacy obsolete documents approved in other systems to Egnyte’s Controlled Document Management application. This feature can be enabled or disabled by admins. For more information, read this helpdesk article.

Controlled Document Management: Video File Preview - The Controlled Document Management application now supports preview for video files (maximum file size of 2GB for accounts with “Advanced Video Preview” functionality or 500MB for accounts without). For more information, read this helpdesk article.

Controlled Document Management: Updated Filters for Trainings I Manage Page - Category Managers and admins can now filter by “Assigned By” users. Both the “Assigned By” and “Assignee” filters now allow filtering of training records for individual users, groups, or a combination of users and groups. For more information, read this helpdesk article.

Mobile

Customizable Navigation Menu for Android App - The bottom navigation menu in the Egnyte Android app is now customizable by navigating to “More” and “Customize Menu”. For more information, check out the helpdesk article.
