Egnyte Collaborates With Microsoft to Bring Governed AI to Windows 11
AI agents are moving beyond the browser and into the desktop applications professionals use every day. Egnyte is excited to announce a new collaboration with Microsoft to bring Egnyte AI to Windows 11 through Microsoft Execution Containers (MXC), enabling AI agents to work directly alongside desktop applications while operating within enterprise security boundaries. This collaboration combines Egnyte's expertise in enterprise content, business context, and data governance with Microsoft's secure execution technology, so organizations can put AI to work on complex, multi-step tasks with confidence.
The most valuable work rarely happens in a browser tab. It happens in tools like Revit and Bluebeam, with deadlines attached. AI can't operate where that work lives. Even with the right security controls, it can only go so far. We're proud to support Microsoft's vision of Windows as the home for hybrid intelligence, where agents run locally or in the cloud with the security and manageability organizations expect.
Bringing AI Into the Applications Where Work Happens
Egnyte AI sits beside the applications professionals already use. In AEC, a user asks it to issue a set of drawings, and the AI Assistant (or agent) develops a plan, works across applications, and requests approval before taking action.
Our development team created a demo so our customers could test the Egnyte platform. One request produced an eight-step plan: export 14 sheets from the open Revit model, name the files according to the project's naming convention, and compare the new revision against the last in Bluebeam. Egnyte AI asked for approval before sharing the drawings externally, then drafted the transmittal for the user to review and send.
The results? Egnyte helped coordinate multi-application workflows that reduced manual steps, while keeping the user in control of the final action.
Give Local AI Agents Clear Security Boundaries
Capable AI on a work machine raises an obvious question: What can it reach? Agents execute multi-step tasks, use tools, and access files with varying degrees of human oversight. Microsoft's solution to this problem is a security model built on containment, identity, and manageability. MXC, now generally available on Windows 11, lets organizations define which files and networks agents can access, with policies enforced at runtime.
With Egnyte AI, IT administrators can configure and enforce security policies through Microsoft Intune. In our demo configuration, the agent was restricted from accessing stored credentials and external networks. When it tried to read a stored credential, it was blocked. Microsoft secures the agent's execution environment, while Egnyte governs access to enterprise content.

Extend Agentic Workflows Across Industries
Egnyte’s collaboration with Microsoft brings Egnyte AI to Windows 11 through Microsoft Execution Containers. It lets AI agents work directly inside desktop applications while staying within enterprise security and governance boundaries. These can support task-specific agents across industries, combining access to desktop applications with the business content, context, and governance needed to complete specialized workflows. Examples include:
- Financial services: The CIM and Offering Memo Summarizer speeds up document analysis and reduces manual review.
- Legal: The Document Review Agent helps professionals analyze and review complex documents.
- Life sciences: The eSignature Audit Trail Compiler helps teams compile records for audit and compliance review.
Egnyte AI for Windows 11 also runs on Windows 11 PCs accelerated by NVIDIA RTX Spark™.
Uniting Enterprise Context and Governance
Bringing AI into desktop workflows is only valuable when agents have the right business context and operate within the permissions and governance organizations already rely on. Together with Microsoft, Egnyte is combining secure local execution with the enterprise content, context, and controls agents need to work accurately and responsibly.
This collaboration represents an important step toward making agentic AI practical for the complex workflows businesses depend on every day.
Egnyte AI for Windows 11 will be in private preview at Microsoft Ignite beginning November 17, 2026. If you’d like to learn more about Egnyte and Microsoft, click here.
