September Product Rollup: Link Upgrades, Issue Resolution and More

This month, we’re excited to announce further improvements to public and private links, security and governance issue resolution, content lifecycle management support for content in Microsoft SharePoint and OneDrive, support for viewer-only permissions in the Egnyte mobile app, and more. Check out some of our product releases this month below.

Platform

Differentiated Link Expiration for Public and Private Links (Limited Availability) - Admins can assign default expiration policies for links depending if the link is being shared with domain users and known third parties (Private Links) or with anyone (Public Links). Admins can set default and max expiration values inside the Settings tab of the Egnyte Web UI. Default values will be automatically applied when users create links, though users can change them at any time during link creation, up to the maximum value specified by the admin. Security & Governance

Classification policies for Legal Hold criteria - You can now use any active content classification rule as criteria for your legal hold. This is in addition to the current retention of content from specific users and files in specific folder locations. For more information, read this helpdesk article.

Issue remediation improvements for simplified resolution of security alerts – You can now more easily define resolution steps for security issues discovered by Egnyte. For more information, read this helpdesk article.

Content Lifecycle management support for content in Microsoft SharePoint and OneDrive - You can now create archival and deletion policies and launch on-demand archival and deletion jobs for MS SharePoint and OneDrive sources linked to your Egnyte domain. For more information, read this helpdesk article.

Proactive content classification whitelisting of email sources – You can now whitelist an email source so that it is not included as part of content classification. For more information, read this helpdesk article.

Desktop

WebEdit 2.4.7 for Windows and Mac - The latest version of WebEdit is available for Windows and Mac. This version includes various fixes for issues related to file uploads and editing. For more information, check out the helpdesk article.

Mobile

Support for Viewer-Only Permissions on iOS - The Egnyte iOS mobile app will now support viewer-only permissions, enabling users to preview files inside a folder but not download them. Users with viewer-only permissions can navigate to a folder within the mobile app but not view the files within that folder. To view the list of files and preview them, users will need to use the Egnyte web application. When viewer-only permissions are on for a domain, users with the right level of access to a folder can grant other users viewer-only permission to that folder within the mobile app. For more information, read the helpdesk article.
