"Netgear and Egnyte Team Up for New NAS Line"

Cloud file server provider Egnyte and Netgear have teamed up to deliver Netgear ReadyNAS Pro devices preinstalled with Egnyte as an add-on. The joint Netgear-Egnyte venture means a new line of ReadyNAS Pro products that allows businesses to have local or remote access to content. Touted benefits include faster access speed, improved performance and better data protection.

The Egnyte-enhanced ReadyNAS Pro automatically synchronizes the online cloud with a local ReadyNAS Pro. As a hybrid solution, it allows users to access, share and collaborate from any location, and can be integrated into existing directory services to further streamline management.

The two companies are highlighting the team effort as particularly beneficial for VARs and that it gives resellers a recurring revenue stream. It also eliminates the channel conflict inherent in pure cloud-based offerings.

Existing users of ReadyNAS Pros can access the Egnyte Office Local Cloud by updating their firmware.
