Egnyte Cementing Relationships with the UK Construction Industry
When it comes to city architecture, it doesn’t get more diverse than the beautiful city of London (ok, as a “Londoner,” I am biased, I know). Nestled seamlessly alongside historic buildings, such as Buckingham Palace, The Tower Bridge, Houses of Parliament and Natural History Museum, we have a new “generation” of modern architecture - The Leadenhall Building (aka the Cheese Grater), 20 Fenchurch Street (aka the Walkie Talkie) and The Shard (the tallest building in London). The city has seen an explosion of new and very diverse landmarks “pop up” over the last few decades. So when we at Egnyte discovered that London Build, a premier construction event, was taking place at The O2 (aka The Millennium Dome), we knew we had to be there to showcase our enterprise file services solution to the UK construction industry professionals in attendance. The two-day event had a stellar line-up of 200 exhibitors with speakers that included representatives from Crossrail, RIBA and Egnyte’s customer Balfour Beatty. Being with such great company, we were excited to sponsor this year’s event, which attracted nearly 10,000 attendees who roamed the show floor to learn about the latest technologies in the industry.
In our booth, we were able to chat with a varied audience of construction industry professionals - from architects to project managers and engineers to consultants - about their unique daily challenges when it comes to securely sharing and storing files across multiple offices and job sites. With our demo station in full use and sales team engaged from the beginning, it was an action-packed event from start to finish. One notable takeaway from the event came from speaking with an attendee, a project manager who has been in the industry for more than 20 years. He talked about the issues around being on site and not having reliable Internet, especially at the start of a build project. Although he and his team had mobile devices, without stable Internet access, these were rendered useless, as he was unable to access the most up-to-date drawing and project files. We talked to him about how Bowmer & Kirkland, of one Egnyte’s customers, had a similar situation, and their team leveraged Egnyte’s hybrid deployment to help eliminate these issues and boost productivity, regardless of Internet bandwidth at each site. Being a newbie to the Egnyte team, starting about a month ago in the EMEA office, it was great to hear this project manager’s story and share what Egnyte can really do for his business and for the industry. While the event was a whirlwind, we are already looking forward to the next construction event in EMEA. Stay tuned for updates from us in the region. And, in case you missed our recent news coming out of our HQ in California, we recently announced some new partners and AEC-focused features in our recent blog.
