Celebrating the Holidays by Giving Back

The Christmas season is a time for gathering with friends and family to celebrate the holiday with large festive dinners and gift exchanges. For those less fortunate, this time of year places additional stress on families struggling to make ends meet but still wanting their children to open gifts on Christmas morning.

This year, Egnyte supported the Bay Area’s Family Giving Tree Holiday Wish Drive. Since 1990, the Family Giving Tree has fulfilled more than one million holiday wishes for Bay Area children in need. The Family Giving Tree partners with Bay Area social service agencies to collect specific gift wishes from children with whom they work year-round.Our office decorated our Christmas trees with the Family Giving Tree wish tags and fulfilled nearly 100 wishes for children in need! As the organizer of this drive, I was moved by and impressed with my colleagues since so many of them picked up multiple wish tags. I think shopping for these children reminded us of the magic Christmas once held for our pre 9-to-5 selves. We imagined the recipients of the Star Wars figurines, karaoke machines and Hello Kitty make-up kits tearing open their wrapped packages with the anticipation of something new to call their own.This was Egnyte’s first time supporting the Family Giving Tree, and we’re looking forward to participating in this important holiday drive again next year.
