Celebrating Egnyte’s European Expansion with a Bird’s Eye View on London
I just got back from a great trip to the UK where we celebrated our expansion into Europe with the appointment of a new regional VP and GM and announced plans to open a regional headquarters in London. Held high above the streets of London on the 39th floor of the Heron Tower, we couldn’t have chosen a more ideal venue to host the party and celebrate our news with local customers, partners, friends and press. The Heron Tower is the second tallest building in all of London so you can just imagine the views!
A big highlight for me was to see the turnout; we were over capacity for most of the night with our guests enjoying the views, conversation and refreshments. It’s truly heartening to me to see the interest and support we’re already seeing in the UK, and I’m really excited to start spending more time in Europe meeting with customers, forging relationships with partners and continuing to raise visibility for Egnyte and our market-leading solution.
Another highlight was having Egnyte investor Mike Maples of Floodgate on hand for the festivities. He was one of our very first investors in the company and remains one our staunchest supporters and smartest advisors. During the event, Mike shared some great stories about when he first invested in Egnyte all those years ago and how he’s seen our small startup grow into a global company. My team and I are thrilled to enter this new stage in our company’s growth, so it was great to have a few folks on hand who have been with Egnyte from the very beginning.
We also announced Mark Rattley as vice president and general manager for Egnyte Europe. He most recently worked at EMC as vice president of sales for EMEA and brings thirty years of enterprise software experience to this key role. We’re thrilled to have Mark join our team and lead the efforts to grow our presence in Europe. I’m sure you’ll be hearing more from him in the near future.
We have numerous customers and partners in Europe, and this expansion enables us to provide better local support. We plan to hire 20-25 sales and marketing professionals in the UK this year who will provide local support to our European customers and help us expand our footprint across the region. In order to better understand regional market needs and concerns, we will also engage with our customer advisory board that includes senior executives from European businesses and will continue to expand relationships with security-focused partners.
