Good Morning I’m Steve Chen, the core mobile developer here at Egnyte. So far I’ve worked on the iPhone and iPad applications and soon we plan to branch out into Android mobile and tablet apps. I spend my day focusing on developing cool new feature updates that customers are requesting. Additionally, I also try to help out with any technical mobile customer service issues. Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions!

I’m attracted to technology because I’ve always liked tinkering with things. When I was a baby my dad bought me some toy cars and the first thing I did was throw them on the ground to break them. That way I could play with the pieces instead and that is when my dad told my mom I was going to be an engineer some day. I graduated UC Davis with a degree in Computer Science and Engineering. While I was there I held various jobs and also founded my web and software development company, Kuixotiq, where I built all sorts of quirky stuff.

So far Egnyte has a great atmosphere for a guy like me. The variety of work and challenges the company has to offer always keep me on my toes. There is not a day that goes by where I don’t learn about something new. Furthermore, everybody on the team is incredibly helpful so nobody feels like they’re left behind.

Outside of work I try to go to the gym at least four days a week. Currently I’m fixing my boat and learning how to sail. My goal in life is to learn about everything and do everything. There are plenty of things I don’t know about and nothing is boring to me.
