Product Improvements
Real-time Storage Report
A new Usage widget is being added which will give Administrators a graphical view of the total account usage. The widget will report total usage statistics in real-time. From your home page, you will be able to see how your company is using storage in your Shared, Private, FTP, Backup, and Trash folders. The Usage widget will help you monitor, understand and administer storage in your company.
Administrators will see storage details for the entire account, whereas the Standard Users and Power Users will only be able to see usage statistics relevant to their use of Egnyte.
New File Upload Mechanism - Virtual Drop Box Widget
The Virtual Drop Box widget makes it easy for your business partners and employees to upload files to Egnyte without logging in to the Cloud File Server. Using the widget helps you limit visibility to your cloud files and provides an easily accessible file upload option directly on your website.
Egnyte Administrators will now see a new toolbar button to generate the widget script that you can embed in any web page.
Salesforce.com integration
We have recently released our first phase of Salesforce.com integration. You can leverage all the file storage, sharing and access capabilities of Egnyte, from within your Salesforce.com account. Egnyte is now available in
appexchange. In order to connect existing accounts in Egnyte and Salesforce.com, click here for details. For the next phase, we are working on integrating Egnyte with normal workflows within Salesforce.com.
Personal Local Cloud
In our December newsletter, we had mentioned that we were releasing the next version, which would provide visual indicators on file sync status, right click actions and few other improvements. The release was delayed due to a lengthier QA cycle than anticipated. Finally, we are releasing the Windows version this month and the Mac version two weeks after.
Mobile App Improvements
For the iPad and Android tablet apps, we continue to make improvements.
The latest version of the iPad app allows you to open multi-media files within the app and print files to any AirPrint enabled printer.
The Android tablet app now enables sync of local file changes whether you are in the online or offline mode.
One major change we have introduced is you now have the choice of using standard web access on iPad (Safari) or Android (Chrome), in addition to the apps. This was an often requested feature from our users and finally, after some UI tweaks, it is available.
