Product Improvements
We have made significant improvements to the local cloud and mobile products in the past month. We hope the updates improve your Egnyte experience and as always, we would love to hear your feedback!
Integration with Active Directory
The Egnyte Office Local Cloud (OLC)
on Netgear NAS and
Enterprise Local Cloud (ELC) on VMware VM now support full AD integration.
This lets you integrate the Local Cloud to your AD server and import all AD users. With Egnyte already providing AD integration with the Cloud File Server,
you now have a single point of user management.
For more details on how to integrate with AD, please review this article in our knowledge base.

Faster synchronization
We have improved several facets of our synchronization to allow faster propagation of file changes made across your Personal Local Cloud (PLC) and the Cloud File Server. You can expect to see continued improvements from us in this area. We realize that while PLC is intended more for offline access, more of our customers expect real time sync while using PLC to work locally.
Mac menu integration
The PLC now runs on the Mac menu instead of running on the dock. Note that on Windows, the PLC was already setup to run from the system tray.
iPhone and iPad app improvements
We have upgraded the iPhone and iPad applications significantly. The apps now provide you with offline access. By simply marking a file for local access, you can access it later without being connected to the internet.
You can mark as many files as needed. On iOS4 enabled iPhones, your files will continue to download in the background, even if you choose to leave the application.
On the iPad, Egnyte will download the files before the application is closed.

Send Link Capability
In response to your feedback, we have brought back the old "Send Link" format. Some customers had expressed the preference to use the old
"Send Links" format which allowed them to send links directly from their mail client (Outlook, Gmail, Yahoo, etc.).
So, now you have the flexibility of switching between the two ways - the new one, where Egnyte sends out the links and the old one,
where you use your email to send out the links. The switch is via an account administrator setting.
Newsletter Controls
Administrators will now be able to control if your power users or standard users will receive the monthly Egnyte newsletters and other email product updates.
