| We are excited to start 2009 with the next big step in the evolution of our service – the Egnyte Local Cloud (ELC). |
|
|
Egnyte Local Cloud - Arriving Shortly!
ELC, a compliment to the Egnyte On Demand File Server, provides the following capabilities:- Redundant backup – local copy of some or all of your files
- Faster access – enabling you to work locally, share globally
- Off-line access to your files
Egnyte keeps the Local Cloud and the On Demand File Server in sync. Best of all, the ELC can be easily installed on any inexpensive off the shelf storage device (like Maxtor, Simpletech, Western Digital, Toshiba etc), OR on your computer hard drive.
We appreciate the overwhelming interest from you around this new capability. We are launching this service very soon and will provide more details. |

| Recent Improvements |
|
| We have recently added several new features to Egnyte. |
|
Link Summary Report In December we launched a Reporting capability to help you better manage your data and users. We continue to add new reports here based on customer requests. The most recent addition is the LINK SUMMARY report, a consolidated view of all file links created from your account. You can view information about the active links and optionally choose to delete links. |
|
Improved User and License Management As an administrator, you can now better manage your user licenses from either the Address Book or the Account Settings page. You can add or remove Power User licenses easily. Additionally, you can convert Standard Users to Power Users or vice versa.
Note that you can Deactivate or Delete unused accounts. Deleting a user account also removes all associated user data. Remember to use the deactivate function if you want to revoke access but keep a user’s data around. |

Backup Improvements We have added some significant improvements in our backup software over the last couple of months. We recommend you log into your account and download the latest backup software by clicking on the Backup Computer action on your home page.
Logs – What was backed up? You can now view detailed logging information, indicating the specific folders and files that were backed up during each run of the backup software.
More control over backup schedule Use the backup settings to decide when you would like the backup to run on your computer. You can also determine what portion of your network bandwidth is used by the backup program, specifying, for example, that 50% should be used for other activities. |
