Director of Engineering
Egnyte is looking for a Director of Engineering to lead our engineering team. We are well funded and
growing quite rapidly.
Experience with running a fast software engineering operation would be the most valuable skill preferably in building a large scale, high traffic site.
Currently, this role is being played by one of the founders who also runs operations. With rapidly expanding business and multiple data centers, it is becoming almost impossible to manage engineering by the same person. Therefore, we have decided to bring in an experienced person who will own engineering and work with Marketing and Products to manage the product roadmap. All of us have a roll up your sleeves mentality and expect you to be the same.
Responsibilities will include advising team members on design patterns and code refactoring, managing code walk thru’s and ensuring that unit testing is part of the development process. We do expect you to "pinch hit" on coding as and when required.
The minimum experience "preferred" is 5 years in a commercial hosted environment. Knowledge of web development for high traffic apps is a definite must. Experience with Apache/Proxy Servers and load balancing, experience with Java server side technologies (NIO, multi-threading, application servers) are some of the skills that would help in managing the team. Other knowledge areas that will come in handy are knowledge of large storage architectures.
Bachelors degree in Computer Science is a nice to have.
Compensation package would be commensurate with your experience and skill level.
